On average, 3 to 3.5 litres of ashes are released after cremation of an adult person. The amount of ashes depends on the size of the person in terms of weight and height, the type of wood of the coffin and any objects in the coffin. With animal urns too, the amount of ashes released depends on the weight of your beloved animal. Here is an overview of minimum contents of urns for persons and animals.
When fully preserving the ashes of an adult, you should have an urn of 3 - 3.5 litres capacity. For a deceased child, you should count on an urn with a capacity of 1.8 litres. The capacity size of the urn is mentioned with each urn. A mini urn holds a small amount of ashes. A mini urn is therefore suitable for storing part of the cremation ashes, lock of hair or other remembrance. It is common for families to purchase several mini urns so everyone can keep part of the ashes.
